Compassionate Touch

Compassion Work

Our goal is to discover and meet the needs of the people in Northern Asia.  We work together to maximize efforts and keep the impact of our compassionate outreaches always relevant, everywhere. Here are just a few stories of how Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch is transforming lives and communities.

My first backpack!

My first backpack!

The need:
“My family is very poor. I went to school every day with no backpack or school supplies. It was hard to do my school work and homework.” – Village Girl
The response:
“When we first moved to this village, we knew the people were very poor, but we had no idea what we could do to help them the most. Over time, through our relationship with the schools, we realized there were many children with no backpacks or school supplies. It was through Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch that we were able to ensure every child received what they needed.” – Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch Worker

My first toothbrush!

My first toothbrush!

The need:
“My mouth ached all the time. No one had ever shown me how to use a toothbrush; the older I have gotten, the more teeth I have lost. I don’t want to see this same problem continue with the young people in our family.” – Village Girl
Our response:
“Who knew that by passing out toothbrushes and doing simple seminars on oral hygiene a whole town could be saved from tooth decay? I was amazed by the people’s thankfulness and how thrilled they were to own a toothbrush.” – Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch Worker

Orphan’s Lovingly Cared For

My first words!

The need:
“The need at our orphanage has been desperate. We have at least 10 babies to every worker. Though we love the children dearly, it’s hard for us to manage sometimes.” – Chinese Orphanage Caretaker
Our response:
“It’s heartwarming to see how loving these orphanage caretakers are toward the children. The challenges they face make their jobs more than full-time. Our team of workers realizes that we help the orphans the most by enabling their caretakers to do their job well. We find resources for supplies, we join efforts to make sure the children are fed well and kept clean, and we work to facilitate good foster homes for them.” – Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch Worker

My new family!

My new family!

The need:
“Orphanages are full of disabled children in need of a home. They are beautiful children and our community would like to help.” – Chinese community leader
Our response:
“We designed a foster program with checks and balances to ensure each child got a foster home that loves them and takes quality care of them. We have seen a majority of them grow, develop and move successfully beyond their disabilities.” – Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch Worker

My first toy!

My first toy!

The need:
“Did you know that even though the majority of the world’s toys are manufactured in China, many of Chinese children have never had a toy of their own?” – School Superintendent
Our response:
“Every Christmas we do a toy drive and pass out thousands of toys… one per child. Their response is often tears, screams of joy and laughter, and hugs of gratitude. It’s so cool.” – Northern Asia’s Compassionate Touch Worker
